He holds a senior professorial chair in sustainable architecture and climate change. Rajat\u2019s research interests lie in assessing the indoor air quality implications of decarbonising buildings, local energy mapping for scaling up energy retrofits; and overheating in buildings. As Principal Investigator (PI) he has won over \u00a314 million in research grants from UK Research Councils (EPSRC, ESRC, NERC), Innovate UK and EU to investigate these subjects. \nRajat is UK lead of a \u00a31.3 million EPSRC-DST Newton Fund sponsored Indo-UK RESIDE project on Residential building energy demand reduction in India. He is also Co-Investigator on the \u00a39 million EPSRC EnergRev project on scaling up smart local energy systems and PI of the \u00a3382k EPSRC EnergyREV Plus project on smart energy tools for enhancing user engagement in local energy projects. He is also lead academic on the Innovate UK \u00a315.2 million smart local energy system demonstrator, Local Energy Oxfordshire. Rajat has produced over 175 publications and is member of several technical committees and task groups.  He is currently advising UK&#8217;s Ministry of Justice on overheating in buildings and has been an ad hoc member of DEFRA\u2019s Air Quality Expert Group.
