Prof. M S Dasgupta has more than thirty years of teaching and research experience at BITS Pilani, India at Mechanical Engineering Department. He has been part and parcel of several initiatives scripting the phenomenal growth story of BITS Pilani as an Institution of Eminence as announced by the GOI in 2018. He has mentored and motivated several students who subsequently grew to be among the highest achievers across the globe, both in corporate world and in research. Prof. Dasgupta served as Department Head of Mechanical Engineering
For 8 years in two double terms and as Faculty in-charge of Campus placement for 8 years. He is currently serving as Coordinator IQAC for the University and had served as the same capacity earlier for 2 years. BITS Pilani received NAAC accreditation grade of A++ with a CGPA of 3.68 during December 2024. He also had participated in 10 NAAC peer team visits in various capacities.
Dr. Dasgupta has primary research interest is Environment friendly technologies, specifically in CO2 Trans-critical systems and natural refrigerants, has worked in several funded research projects including two in partnership with SYNTEF Ocean Norway and NTNU Norway. He has more than 100 publications in peer reviewed international Journals and conferences and have given keynote address at various conferences in India and abroad.
Prof. Dasgupta along with colleagues and industry professionals as a team organized India’s First International conference on Sports Engineering in 2017, designed and introduces a course curriculum in Sports Engineering and is also the founder director of Sports Engineering Association, India. Dr. Dasgupta mentored several innovative initiatives with students like CRISS Robotics, BITS Hyperloop, Vertical flight Gadura etc.
