Dr. Vishal Garg is Professor and Head of the Center for IT in Building Science at IIIT, Hyderabad. His current research interests are in the areas of building energy simulation, building automation, and cool roofs. He teaches building automation and controls, energy simulation, and lighting design & technology. He holds a B.Tech. (Hons.) degree in Civil Engineering from MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur and a Ph.D. from the IIT Delhi. He was the founding president of the Indian chapter of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) and chaired the organizing committee of the International Conference for Building Simulation-2015 and International Conference on Countermeasures to Urban Heat Islands (IC2UHI) scheduled in Dec 2019. He is fellow of IBPSA and received the inaugural Arthur H. Rosenfeld Urban Cooling Achievement Award 2018.

Dr. Jyotirmay Mathur is Professr at MNIT Jaipur and Head of the Incubation Centre at Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur (India). He has supervised 16 Ph.D. thesis, published more than 80 research papers in referred international journals and has presented more than 150 papers/talks, international seminars/conferences, besides authoring/editing 5 books in the field of energy. He works in the field of energy planning and modeling, building energy simulation, energy conservation in buildings, and life cycle assessment of renewable energy systems. Current activities of Dr. Mathur include studies on adaptive thermal comfort, modeling of passive cooling systems, and long-term energy system modeling penetration of renewable energy.

Dr. Sha Yu is a scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Her research focuses on integrated assessment modeling, building energy efficiency, and clean energy financing. Dr. Yu has more than 10 years of experience.  She worked with national, state, and local governments to develop and implement building energy codes, and led several studies and publications on building energy efficiency. She used integrated assessment modeling tools to assess impacts of building energy efficiency policies at national and state levels and the role of the buildings sector in implementing climate strategies. Dr. Yu received her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland.

Aditya has been working with Prayas Energy Group since 2010 and currently is a Fellow. His work focuses on improving energy efficiency, particularly in India’s residential sector. His analysis and advocacy cover the techno-economic, policy, and behavioural issues that hinder market wide adoption of energy efficient appliances. He is also interested in understanding the appliance usage and ownership patterns to study the growth and nature of future residential demand for electricity in India.

Prior to joining ASCI, he was heading the Energy Team in Andhra Pradesh Technical Consultancy Organization Limited, Hyderabad. There, he worked on UNDP-GEF Project on CO2 emission reduction program in steel re-rolling industry, BEE-SME project in different clusters like Ice making, Rice milling, Sponge iron, and Refractories.

Dr. Anna Agarwal is a fellow at the Centre for Policy Research. She works on India’s energy demand transitions, and identifying ways to lock-in low-carbon energy consumption patterns for the long-term. Anna’s work currently focuses on examining the cooling-related energy demand particularly the demand for air conditioning in urban households. Prior to joining CPR, Anna was the Associate Director-Urban Innovation and a Senior Fellow at the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC- India). Anna holds a PhD and a SM degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an undergraduate degree from IIT Delhi.

Ms Swati Puchalapalli is the director of TerraViridis, a Sustainable Design Consultancy, and director of Sustainability at VeraTatva, an engineering consultancy specializing in ultra-high-performance design. She has 20+ years of experience in Sustainable design, computational analysis and environmental policy research. As a strong proponent of passive design as the first step towards efficiency, she applies learnings from local vernacular and uses state of art simulation techniques for building analysis. She is an accredited GRIHA Evaluator, BREEAM Assessor, GRIHA TAC Member and Visiting Faculty at CEPT Ahmedabad. Dr Suryanarayana Doolla is currently a Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay where he teaches and directs research in power electronics and power systems as a faculty member in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering. Prior to joining the department, he worked in the automation and power consulting industry. His research interest includes smart grids, microgrids, demand response, energy management, converter topology and control for renewable energy systems and power system applications in power electronics.
